Maryborough Central is the proud winner of the 2009 Yamaha Piano Awards. To enter the competition, school or community groups needed to create a 5min video demonstrating the need for a piano at their school. The Film and Music Group quickly created a script and recorded the video entry. The Yamaha T121 Piano will be delivered and tuned in February 2010, all courtesy of Yamaha Australia. In the 1st Trimester Year 6/7W & 7C completed their unit on Roman Empire. Students had to demonstrate their understanding of life in Rome through the creation of a screenplay. Students needed an intimate knowledge of the rituals, religion, social hierarchy and culture of Rome to make their script come to life. Students adapted specific roles from the film industry like actors, director, camera and audio technicians. Both films were recorded in less than a week and most of the filming was shot in the Wide Bay Resource Centre in front of some carpeted blue screens. The blue was later replaced by pictures of Rome using video editing software.
