Maryborough Central State School has the regular services of a Guidance Officer. The Guidance Officer may spend time with students in counselling sessions, supporting students' emotional wellbeing, assessing students' cognitive abilities and their learning processes. With the information contained in the Guidance Officer's assessments and data gathering, an appropriate learning plan can be put together by the Class Teacher and the Support Teacher:Learning Difficulties to assist the student to participate in the school curriculum to the best of his or her abilities. From weeks one to four in Term 3 Mr Terry Rowsell will be working at the school. From week five, Ms Julie Franklin will be at Maryborough Central every Tuesday. To access the services of the Guidance Officer, an in-school referral form must be completed and signed by the parent/guardian and the school principal. Parents should contact their child's class teacher or the Support Teacher: Learning Difficulties, Nieke Groenenberg, if they wish to discuss or make a referral. The Guidance Officer liaises closely with the Support Teacher: Learning Difficulties, Nieke Groenenberg, and the Head Of Special Education Services, Sam Follers. |
