Students in years 6 & 7 study a foreign language, German, for 1.5 hours per week with a specialist teacher. Students are exposed to both language and cultural aspects in their studies. Consultation with classroom teachers allows for the integration of German studies in the wider curriculum. This term the students will be studying the topic, "Tiere" (Animals), including pets, as well as farm and zoo animals. This follows from their previous units about themselves and their families. The students will be able to describe their pets and ask others about pets they have.
For all classes, the culture of Germany and historical events are also an important component of the course. |
