This term, 3S is lucky enough to have 2 Music and PE lessons every week. Please make sure you bring your hats and water bottles for PE!

Hats are a very important part of the school uniform, so please ensure you bring a wide-brimmed hat to play at break times and also to participate in PE lessons.

TERM 3

Trimester 2: SIMPLE MACHINES

For our next unit, we are learning all about Force & Motion through simple machines. We will investigate the design features and uses for Lever, Wheel & Axle, Pulley, Wedge, Inclined Slide and Screws. We will then construct our own simple machine using basic materials and write a set of instructions on how to construct or how to use our simple machine. Let the construction begin!

Stay tuned for information about how the Year 3's will participate in the MTC.

SPORTS DAY

Well done to all of those students who put in their best effort when participating in Central's Sports Day. I hope you all had fun!

TRIMESTER 1: WALKING TALKING TEXT: "Belinda" By Pamela Allen

Our first unit of work will be all about literacy - reading, writing and speaking! It is all going to be focused around a fantastic picturebook called "Belinda" By Pamela Allen. During this unit, students will be exposed to the narrative structure in order to practice for their Year 3 Test that occurs early in Term 2. Wehave also worked collaboratively with Mr Bryant to create an animated storybook. Click below to see our work.

FRUIT BREAK

Remember to bring in a fresh piece of fruit or vegetable everyday for our 10am Fruit Break.

LITERACY

Every morning, we focus on our literacy skills through sight words, automaticity, sentence writing, spelling and reading.

MATHS

Each day, we practice our numeracy skills by doing our Mad Minute (number facts), maths mentals, skip counting and lots of other maths activities.

SMART MOVES

Daily physical activity is very important so we make sure we fit in our 30 minutes of exercise every day by doing activities such as dancing, playing games on the oval, yoga and much more.

HOMEWORK

Homework started last week. Students have 2 weeks to complete their homework tasks and have a choice of which activities they would prefer to do. A new homework sheet with new sight words and spelling words will be handed out each fortnight. Homework sheets are handed out on Tuesdays.

THE FANTASTIC MR HODGE

So far this term, we have been lucky enough to work together with Mr Hodge and 3H to do some different activities such as sentence writing. 3S and 3H are looking forward to working together throughout the year!

VOLUNTEERS

If you wish to come into the 3S classroom to help us out, please come and let us know because we would appreciate your time.
